COURRÈGES mask model 7853, color 05, was made in the seventies, as the official COURRÈGES website states and has only recently (late 2012) been remade, exclusively for the COURRÈGES boutique, in Paris, as well as an aproximetely one week availability (2nd to 9th February 2013) at Colette, also in Paris, France.
The remake, also in our sunglassespreservation archives, here on the site, carries the following model number: CL1301 and was availabe in white and black. It was made by the ALAIN MIKLI atelier.
The original eighties model was produced in many different colors and is overall a tiny bit smaller than the MIKLI for COURRÈGES remake. It appears to be a bit sturdier and rougher around the edges. The new model is made of plastic while the original is probably made of acetate. The biggest difference between the two models, however, is the plastic, rubber covered, COURRÈGES logo on the left temple. The remake/revisited model carries no outer logo.
Another difference are the two screws that keep the lenses attached to the frame. The 2012 revisited model has no screws holding the lenses to the frame.
The screws and hinges uniting the temples with the frame are also different in construction between the original from the seventies and the 2012 ALAIN MIKLI revisited model.
The pink model, available in the sunglassespreservation archives, carries color code 05.
